Teri Speight shares Black Flora stories at Garden Spark

October 22, 2022

Author Teri Speight came to Austin this week to share inspiring stories from her new book, Black Flora, at my Garden Spark speaker series. An enthusiastic audience came out to hear Teri’s talk under the big live oak at beautiful Barton Springs Nursery.

Here are a few of my favorite photos from that evening.

Barton Springs Nursery is the sponsor of Garden Spark and hosts the talks in their outdoor classroom.

Thanks to everyone who came out for Teri’s talk! The next talk is coming up on November 17th, when landscape architect Jennifer Orr of Studio Balcones will talk about designing functional landscapes that provide habitat, are symbiotic, and can survive the harsh Central Texas elements. It promises to be a timely and inspiring talk after the challenging summer we just experienced. 1. This must’ve been a great presentation. I’ve been learning much lately on the various people who contributed so much to gardens and horticulture, so Teri’s talk would’ve added to that. I enjoyed meeting her at the ATX Fling before stuff happened in my life! I’ll put her book into my “to-buy” list. Too bad I’m so far to be practical to attend this series, for the time being.

Yes, it was an interesting and moving presentation. I learned a lot. I hope you’re able to attend a talk the next time you’re visiting Austin, David.

Such a joy to meet Terry and then to her speak on her inspirational book! And Barton Springs nursery’s transformation is an inspiration as well. The perfect magical setting for garden lore to be shared!! Thank you!!!
