A garden for relaxing with friends: Denver Garden Bloggers Fling

July 14, 2019

Kicking off the 3rd day of the Denver Garden Bloggers Fling in, yes, Denver, we toured an inviting patio garden designed for relaxing with family and friends. The owners, Kirsten and Scott Hamling, had set up a long table for Father’s Day brunch. Lucky invitees!

A cheerful display of mimosas — some in test tubes bud vases? — awaited the bloggers on another table adorned with a vase of fluffy, white peonies.

Anneliese of CobraHead (she’s one of the planners of next year’s Fling in Madison, Wisconsin, by the way) samples a test tube mimosa — all in the interests of science, of course.

A wooden pushcart filled with colorful annuals brightens the patio.

Comfortable seating faces an outdoor fireplace. And look, breakfast snacks!

Another look at the beautifully decorated table.

A path leads to the back of the garden and another seating area.

A lovely fountain along the path

A brick fountain at the back of the garden

A sunny shot of yellow columbines

Out front, peonies line the front walk.

The deep front porch, cushily furnished, invites lounging and people watching.

Pots of begonia and hanging baskets of fuchsia add soft color. I love porches like this and could have sat here for hours. But on to the next garden!

Up next: Bold color and containers in the garden of Denver gardening personality Rob Proctor. For a look back at the party under a willow tree in Judy Seaborn’s garden, click here.

I missed this garden, stayed in the hotel to rest. So glad I get to see it now. It’s lovely.

That front porch exerts a powerful pull! I’m amazed you got a shot of it without a Flinger plopped on one of the extremely comfortable-looking chairs. Though I guess its being the first stop of the day made a difference…

    • Pam/Digging says:

Ha, that’s probably true, although I did abandon the back garden fairly quickly because it was so crowded with Flingers. That’s how I ended up with the porch to myself for a few moments. And then I was the one plopped on one those extremely comfortable chairs!

  3. Nice fountains and the gathering places are exceptional, specially the porch.

Who could pass up a test-tube Mimosa! I love that porch too.

You know, I realize now that those are probably bud vases, not test tubes. Ha! A little more appropriate for a garden gathering, I suppose.
