Mousie voting ends soon

May 09, 2008

I’ll be touring Austin gardens on Saturday and visiting with out-of-town family this weekend, so I may not have time to post again until early next week. Voting for the Mouse & Trowel Awards wraps up soon, with the 13th being the last day to vote. Digging has been nominated for Best Photography and Best Design. If you enjoy my photos and/or the look of this site, I’d love to have your vote. Thanks for your support and good wishes!
I’ll leave you with a few of my favorite images from Digging. Have a great weekend!

You truly have an outstanding blog! That last photo is just phenomenal. And I’ve shown people the photos of your yard when you post them, I’m so impressed by your artistic endeavors!
    Brenda
Brenda, thank you so much! You are so kind to say so. Thanks for the warm fuzzies. —Pam

Wonderful pictures. I wish I had water on my property! What kind of camera do you use? You have such great wildlife shots. Have a fun weekend touring!
Don’t you have room for a little container pond, Cinj? That’s all I have, but it makes a big impact in the garden.
Regarding my photos, I use a Canon Powershot S3 IS, basically a nice point-and-shoot. Some of the pics in this post (the dragonfly, flower in ice, Rocky Mountain vista, fall grasses, and the goldfish pond) were taken with my old camera, a Canon Powershot A80. One day I’ll spring for a bigger and better camera, but I’m not ready to spend that kind of money yet. Meantime, the Powershot is a good camera for the money, and very portable and manageable for an amateur like me. I keep meaning to try photo-editing software like Photoshop, but I haven’t gotten there either. All I do to my photos (for now) is crop them. —Pam

Lovely photos Pam…I gave a visiting friend a tour of blogging and we stopped by here earlier for a look! She was very impressed but not up to commenting…I am impressed and wanted to tell you so!

I love comments, so thank you, Gail! My mother is here, and I’ve been giving her a little blog tour too, and showing her your stonework along your new path. —Pam

  4. Agreed that that last photo is exceptionally cool. Not that they’re not all. I just really like the lizard / Agave in particular.
Thanks, Mr. Subjunctive. I really like that one too. It was lucky that I noticed the anole hiding in there. Their colors look great together, and he was posing wonderfully. —Pam

  5. Frances says:

Hi Pam, it is so very obvious why you were a finalist in those categories. You never let us down with the photos and text when we see you have a new post. That ice covered flower is one of my favorite shots. Good luck with the mousies!
    Frances
Thank you so much, Frances. It was an honor just to be included with David and Xris, wonderful photographers that they are. —Pam

  6. Layanee says:

Pam: Those are some of my favorites also! I can’t pick just one…well, maybe the gecko…no, the ice covered flower…the pastel painted poppy….see? All gorgeous. Have a great time on the tour, with friends and Happy Mother’s Day!
Thank you, Layanee! Enjoy the rest of your weekend! —Pam

  7. Cindy says:

Pam, have a weekend that’s as splendid as your pictures! If you’re going to be in Houston, holler at me.
Thanks, Cindy! We’ve stayed in Austin this weekend, but my sister came up from Houston. I hope you’re getting some of the cooler air that blew into Austin last night after a hailstorm. —Pam

  8. Have a happy Mother’s Day with your mom! Your garden is beautiful, your house is beautiful, your photos are beautiful…I could just gush on and on. Thanks for the Mousies reminder, I had thought I had until the 15th. (I don’t do well with deadlines.) I’ve got to go cast my vote for you now. Good luck!
Happy Mother’s Day to you too, MMD! You are so sweet—thank you for your kind words. And thanks too for your vote! —Pam

  9. A nice mix of close ups and longviews, I still like that last one. I can see it as a poster, with some kind of clever caption… you ought to see about selling that one.
I wonder how? Thanks for the compliment, Carol. I hope you’re enjoying your gardening holiday! —Pam

  10. That lizard photo on the agave is wonderful.
Thanks, Linda. Do you have anoles in Houston too? —Pam

  11. Leslie says:

What lovely photos! Love the anole and agave image. The anoles have been out in force in my garden this spring…and they’ve been quite assertive as well. They’re having a good year it seems!
I have a lot of anoles this spring too. It’s always fun to watch them hunting and puffing, isn’t it? —Pam

  12. Nicole says:

Happy travels. Beautiful pics-love the vivid jewel like colors of the dragonfly and lizard and, the cool white flowers and the blue agave.
    Thanks, Nicole! —Pam

  13. Heather says:

I love the picture of the lake and the mountains in the background. It’s absolutely beautiful!
Thank you, Heather. That is Bear Lake in Rocky Mountain National Park, not far from Estes Park, Colorado, one of our favorite vacation spots. —Pam
