Share the love—it’s Mouse & Trowel time

March 20, 2008

Hinckley’s columbine, Manfreda ‘Macho Mocha’, Agave americana variegate, and my yellow bench

I’ve already voted. Have you?

Nope, I’m not talking about the presidential primary. I’m talking about the nomination vote for the Mouse & Trowel Awards, the readers’-choice awards for garden blogs.

Since last year’s inaugural Mousies, the number of garden blogs has mushroomed. So many talented gardeners are blogging that it’s harder than ever to narrow the choices. But it’s fun to share the love, so start making your list today.

Anyone (you don’t have to be a blogger) can nominate their favorites in 13 categories, and you can nominate up to 3 blogs per category. Only one vote per email address is allowed. M&T founder Colleen is accepting nominations through April 13, and she’ll announce the finalists on April 15.

  1. I’m having a serious approach/approach conflict! So many categories, so many choices, so many great blogs, so many funny, informative, or drool-inducing posts. I’m seriously overwhelmed. You’re right, I need to get organized & start making lists…when I get around to it.

I know, it was a bit overwhelming to figure out which blogs to nominate this year—there are so many good ones! —Pam

Yep, cast my votes yesterday. Thanks for the reminder, though.

I started yesterday and gave up, I need to think about it a little more. There are so many wonderful blogs. The fact that you can add three per category just adds to the confusion for me, although I like it. I will definitely be voting though and I’m sure that your blog will be there!

I know what you mean. It’s not easy to narrow the options when there are so many great blogs out there. As for your last comment—how flattering! Thanks, Robin. —Pam

I’ve voted for the mouse and trowel awards. I nominated you for somethings I don’t remember what though. But I love your blog you post wonderful picks and of course great texas plants I need to try. Is that the Columbine that does well in our heat? I know I bought the blue star Columbine before I knew that they don’t do well once it gets really hot.

Thank you so much, Priscilla! I’m glad to know you enjoy my postings about native Texas plants. There are so many great natives that I like to promote them when I can. However, I am by no means a native-plant purist, and I mix ’em up with adapted exotics in my own garden. Yes, I think Hinckley’s is the columbine that’s known to take the heat. It still dies back in the summer, but it comes back at least once more before seeding out and kicking the bucket. —Pam
