Record highs

April 18, 2006

Another day, another weather record broken. Yesterday’s high in Austin (at Camp Mabry) was 98 degrees. In southwest Austin it was 100. It’s like August in April. According to the newspaper this morning, the demand on the electrical grid exceeded the supply, and rolling blackouts were applied throughout the city. We didn’t lose power at our house, however.

Tonight a cold front is predicted that will drop us to a more-normal high of 86 tomorrow. I can’t wait.
