Owl box has a tenant!

July 29, 2009

Unfortunately, it’s a squatter.

This squirrel moved in a couple of weeks ago, we think, and has taken to hanging her head out the door for long periods, trying to stay cool, I imagine. Or, seeing as she overlooks the new stock-tank pond from that vantage point, maybe she’s just enjoying the view.
Speaking of tenants, we expect to lease the Unsold House to a nice family very soon. They have young children and are anticipating letting them play on the paths of the front-garden’s courtyard, as my own children did. I’m glad to know there will be life in the house again soon.

    Pam,
I had forgotten all about the other house… that seems like forever ago. I’m glad to hear you are going to have good tenants moving in.

  2. Becky Lane says:

But, where will you go for plants now?!
Alas, I guess I will be going to the real nurseries. 😉 —Pam

  3. That must be a bit of a relief for you to get tenants! Are they plant people? 🙂
And those pesky squirrels…I swear they are actually using the hazelnuts they are eating of our tree for target practice on us, and the plants!
I don’t know if they are plant people, Loree. But paying tenants are a good thing at this point. —Pam

  4. Cindy, MCOK says:

Pam, congrats on the house tenants … my sympathy re the owl box tenant! Danged furry-tailed rodents.

  5. Lola says:

Congrats on renting. I know you will be more relaxed about that situation. More concentration on new garden.

  6. Jean says:

Well I was about to get excited until I saw that furry tailed rat! He/she must be hot as heck in there! Congrats on your lease situation.

  7. Lisa at Greenbow says:

That rotten little squirrel. Too bad it decided to move in instead of an owl or woodpecker.
It is great that you have someone moving into your house. Maybe they will decide they can buy it after living there.?
That would be lovely, wouldn’t it? —Pam

  8. That’s good news on your former home.
The squirrel is cute! At our previous home, a flying squirrel moved into our bluebird house. He’d watch us work in the garden, too.

  9. Bob Pool says:

Two new tenants in one month, lucky you. OK, not so lucky with the squirrel. I bet it will be fun to watch as well.

  10. Charge ’em extra for the heartache!
They didn’t cause any—in fact, they’re helping to alleviate it. I can only blame that on the economy. 🙂 —Pam

  11. Frances says:

Oh what a relief to hear the old house is being leased. Now in the agreement you are still allowed to borrow from the plants there, right? The squirrel must be so hot inside that house. I thought they lived in nests in tree tops. It will be interesting to see if the squatter stays. The new pond is looking so good, hard to believe it is so young from those stunning shots of fish and flora! 🙂

  12. Town Mouse says:

Can a post about eviction (the squirrel, of course) be far away? We’re all looking forward to it!
No eviction is planned at this point, TM. But if she doesn’t move out by fall, we may have to plan one. Maybe an owl will move in and evict her for us! —Pam

So great to hear that your house will have tenants soon! Hope they don’t have to hang their heads out the doors to cool off…
