Thanks for your vote!

April 15, 2007

Wow, I am a little embarrassed and overwhelmed—not to mention flattered—to realize that Digging is a finalist in 6 categories for the 2007 Mouse & Trowel Awards. Nursing my vanity, I’d hoped I might be nominated in the Best Photography category, since readers sometimes compliment me on my photos. But Best Writing? Best Design? Best North American Garden Blog? Garden Blog of the Year??! And, most touchingly, Garden Blogger You’d Most Like to Have as a Neighbor. Whoever nominated me for this last one, I offer a big, warm, online hug. You made my day.
I’m grateful to everyone who nominated Digging. I really appreciate the recognition. And, modesty be damned, I’d love to have your vote. Voting on the three finalists in each category starts today and ends on May 11. There are wonderful and deserving blogs and websites on the list. Vote early for your favorites, and have fun discovering great blogs you didn’t already know about.
(And thanks, Colleen, for putting on the 1st Annual Mouse & Trowel Awards!)

Pam — What Annie said goes for me. I do have to admit that my immediate reaction on seeing the nominations was to post a comment saying, Whoa! Austin garden bloggers really do rule but I thought better of it since most people would would be reading it on the May Dreams site haven’t been in on our recent bout of self-congratulation.
You — and Annie — are absolutely deserving, in all categories. Congratulations again from me.
Thanks so much, Susan. Speaking of Austin blogs ruling, did you notice that Austinite Tom Spencer’s website, Soul of the Garden, also made the finalists list? —Pam
