Fun new plants

Sedum mexicana ‘Angelina’
With temperatures a little cooler yesterday—in the mid-70s—I took advantage of the balmy weather to plant a few beauties I found at Natural Gardener. Above is an orange-and-chartreuse sedum I’m adding to my new pomegranate bed in the front garden.

Next to the sedum is ‘Milky Way’ aspidistra, a speckled version of the shade-garden standby, cast-iron plant. I’ve been wanting to try this but hadn’t found it anywhere until today. The label says it grows to 12″ tall, which is much shorter than regular aspidistra. It’s going under the vitex tree.

On my as-yet-unbuilt trellis-screen, I’ll plant this yellow crossvine. The orange crossvine, ‘Tangerine Beauty’, grows on my back fence, but I searched out the less-popular yellow-and-red variety this time.
I’ll be too busy with professional commitments and family activities to begin work on the trellis this weekend. But I’ve collected most of the materials I’ll need, and I hope to get started next weekend. Photos to follow.
