Purple pansies and a breath of spring

February 07, 2012

This sweet pot of pansies was brightening up the patio at a client’s house yesterday. In her garden beds, the fresh green leaves of bulbs stood tall, and nodding snowdrops spoke of spring. I love the promise of this time of year, don’t you?

‘Tis my favorite time of the year. Spring always arrives in February in Sacramento.. yes, there is still rain (too occasional this year)but you KNOW the weather is going to get better and better and the daylight gets longer and longer. Trees are budding, bulbs are sprouting, paper whites have been blooming for 6 weeks, yay Spring!

Yes, this is arguably the best time. All that promise and it’s way ahead of schedule this year.

Spring arrives here in February too. I spent the last three days out in the garden, we’ve been having the most wonderful weather, sunny and mild. It’s making me fall in love with my garden again!

  6. There are things popping up here, too. Great promise for a better spring this year, than last.

I love the pretty little faces on pansies. Brightens even cloudy days.

I was just wondering how snow drops do here in Central Texas. Do they come back reliably?

Yes, Leucojum aestivum, also known as summer snowflakes, seem to come back reliably here, Ally. —Pam

  8. Still a ways til it’s Spring here, but certainly a quiet winter compared to the last few years. I’m indulging in potted spring flowers indoors. Love the front yard redo.

  9. Your post makes me think you are enjoying some time outdoors and visiting clients again. Glad you are getting a breath of fresh air.

  10. The pot and the flowers work perfectly together! Lovely combination!
