Spring fever!

April 07, 2010

When I’m not in the garden, I can’t stop looking out the window. So much is happening that I dare not look away lest I miss something, like the first Knock Out ‘Radsunny’ roses…

…or the peak bloom of Shoshana’s irises…

…or the raging orange ‘Tangerine Beauty’ crossvine on the back fence…

…or the knobby, bare seedheads of the faded poppies.
Yep, I’ve definitely got spring fever. Don’t send a doctor. Best to let it run its course.

Spring fever is running through my veins too. You have so much blooming already it is no wonder that you can’t keep your eyes off the garden.

  2. Joy says:

My goodness Pam your poppies are at the seed head stage ? Mine are just begining to sprout some nice green foliage !
Love the flowers they are all eye catchers girl : )

It is popping out all over. Such different springs in other parts of the country. Your spring looks like summer to me.

  4. I have Spring fever, but the pollen and heat (90+ degrees) has been keeping me out of the garden for a few days. I have so much to do!
I can’t believe your poppies are gone already. Mine aren’t in bloom, yet. Looking forward to the colors!

It is best to let it run it’s course…it’s a virus I don’t mind having at all. I can see why you can’t stop looking out the window!

  6. Diana says:

That spring fever is the cure for the winter blues, isn’t it? Love all that color in the garden – especially your irises. I have none blooming. Think I need an iris doctor!

  7. Sheila says:

    I feel the same way!

  8. Pam, your photo of the rose is intoxicating…just like this glorious spring we’re having.

  9. Joseph says:

Does that come with allergy-caused laryngitis? ‘Cause that’s what I’ve had for the past five weeks! Great photos, Pam. Have a great day!

  10. I love those photos Pam. My ‘Radsunny’ will bloom next month, and I’m looking forward to her. We had hail last night, and damage occurred. It’s just life in the garden though. :)~~Dee

  11. This is the kind of fever that can never run high enough! Am enjoying it too, very much so. On walks with Ickle Pup Tara I see new blooms every day. Love Spring!

  12. Poppies are done ALREADY? Wow, Pam. You really do live in an amazing place. I love the rich colours here, nothing tepid or dull. I too would be looking out the window every chance possible.

  13. I know how you feel. I have a hard time staying in the house, even when it’s raining.

  14. Robin says:

I don’t blame you for not being able to take your eyes off of your garden!
It has been in the 80’s here which is unusual for this time of year. I’ve definitly enjoyed the early start to spring.

  15. It is intoxicating out there. I’ve been working hard, to get beds dug and planted, before the real heat strikes. Of course, now I’ll have to cover all the tomatoes, with this cold snap we’re supposed to have. Happens every year. Guess I’ll never learn.
The rose and iris photos are my favorites.

Pam, those are stunning photographs!!! I really love that photo of the Sunny Knockout. And the crossvine. They are all so beautiful!

  17. I’ve got spring fever too Pam. Actually, I had spring fever all winter…dreaming of it anyway.
    Your blooms are beautiful!

  18. Jean says:

Pam, LOL. Even though all that’s happening in my garden so far is green shoots starting to appear, I also find I can’t stay away from the windows; and I take at least two walks around the garden each day. It’s an especially delightful (and early) spring here.

  19. Myt Bignonia cap. ‘Tangerine Beauty’ just started opening today. I just love that color. It is certainly spring at last!!

  20. Pam, if this is the disease, then I don’t want a cure! LOL, I’m SO feeling the exact same way. I stand and stare out the window in a trance like state. The colors get SO vivid out there until the sunny hot days fade them. It’s like technicolor horticulture. 🙂

When I’m not working outside, I’m sitting in a chair pondering one area or another … or standing and squinting at one spot or another … or curled up in the corner of a sofa, cogitating what to do with one bed or another. All symptoms of spring fever!

I like the photos on your Blog. Lovely and bright.
Where did you get the blog layout from? I like how it allows for big photos to be published. I wish I had one too…
Kathryn, my blog template is a free one from WordPress that I’ve tinkered with a bit. —Pam

I hope you have plenty of sick leave, and can stay under the weather for as long as possible.

It’s so funny–we live so close, and you are about two weeks ahead of me. It’s nice to read your blog and see what I have to look forward to! Love all your photos as usual. Wish I could get a macro shot like your do! Radsunny is especially gorgeous!
