Digging receives two Garden Writers Association awards!

July 02, 2015

I’m really excited to announce that I’ve received two Silver Awards of Achievement for garden writing in the 2015 Garden Writers Association Media Awards Program (GWA is now GardenComm).

One award is for the category Blog-Writing. The judges, in making their decision, specifically considered three of my blog posts at Digging:
Up on the High Line, a skyline promenade
Gardens are for people, so put people in your garden photos
Color-drenched walls and desert beauty in Steve Martino-designed Palo Christi Garden

The other award is for the category E-Zine Article, and the recognized piece is “Placing Art in the Garden,” which I wrote for Garden Design magazine’s website.

A Silver Award is wonderful in itself, but it also places my work in a competitive judging process for GWA Gold Awards, the winners of which will be announced at the annual symposium this fall. Fingers crossed!

  1. Congratulations for two well-deserved awards. Yours is one of the few gardening blogs I still read since I seldom get to garden, because you have a very engaging writing style, beautiful pictures and cover lots of interesting topics.

Pretty soon you’re heading into Mark Spitz territory what with all these medals… (OK I just proved how old I am but so goes it).

You’ve worked long and hard to reach this sort of success and Austin can be very proud to claim you as one of our own. Congratulations on some well deserved recognition.
