Giveaway winner…and bouquets of flowers

March 07, 2016

A Sunday stroll down Austin’s Rosewood Avenue revealed this cottagey sidewalk garden outside Civilitude. Jam-packed with cornflowers, poppies, and more, the flowery strip is a charming gift to the neighborhood.

Poppies galore!

Back at home, ‘Amethyst Flame’ bearded irises are opening. I love them backlit with bamboo muhly (Muhlenbergia dumosa) in the late afternoon.

And now you may be wondering if you won the $100 High Country Gardens gift certificate, my giveaway for The Water-Saving Garden publication party. Without further flowery ado, the randomly chosen winner is Ally (comment #59). Congratulations, Ally! I’ll send you an email and will need your confirmation and mailing address. Look in your spam folder if you don’t see my email today.

Thanks for playing, everyone!

How pretty! Our wildflowers aren’t that far along yet. They should be caught up in about a month or so.

  2. What a beautiful garden. Love seeing all those colors.

  3. Love that, especially the poppies. I usually like color schemes but that riot of color looks great.

That looks like June in the PNW! Lucky Ally. Oh well, the drawing made me browse High Country Gardens’ website and I finally found a source for Chamaebatiaria millefolium. That’s a win in my book.

Yes, lucky Ally indeed. As for a Texas spring, so many plants are in a big rush to bloom and set seed before the heat arrives in earnest. I’m glad you found a plant you were looking for at High Country. Chamaebatiaria millefolium looks like a cool plant! —Pam
