First copy of my book is in my hands!

December 21, 2012
My new book!
Forget all that Mayan doomsday hoo-ha. The very first, sparkly new copy of my book, Lawn Gone!, arrived in the mail from my publisher today, and I’m just gonna have to gush like a new mother holding her firstborn for the very first time.

It’s the most beautiful book ever! The color photos pop and look enticing as you flip through the pages, and the text is arranged and sized to be easily readable. I love the fun splash of orange and yellow and the mosaic of images on the cover. I’m completely thrilled with the look and feel of it.

As for the real substance of the book, the clarity and helpfulness of the writing and the relevance of and inspiration provided by the photos—well, you all will be the judge of that. I sure hope you like it. And I can’t wait for you to have a chance to read it. It’ll be out on February 12th, which is only a month and a half away, and you can pre-order here if you like.

OK, thanks for letting me gush. I’m done now. But I’m sure I’ll be smiling all day.

Congratulations, Pam! I’ve placed my order. Not that I have any lawn, did away with that years ago. I’m a gushing fan who fell in love with Whale’s tongue agave, Berkeley & Sparkler sedge and gopher plant because of you. Can you tell I have a herd of 30 deer to deal with! Thanks for all you do.

(this post is old enough that I can say it bothers me that the ad for your book on your sidebar is so fuzzy. For me your blog sparkles on the quality of your photos. Pity to lose that sparkle on the book ad. Any way you can get sharper quality in that ad? Or does it only matter to me? Hope the sales are going well, as they should be!)

Thanks for your feedback, Diana. I stopped immediately to take a look! I guess it does look a little fuzzy, but to me that’s because the cover image has been shrunk down so small. That button, which simply links to another page on Digging, was made by the woman I hired to redesign Digging for me last fall. She’s off the payroll now, so no chance of getting her to sharpen that image, alas. And I’m hopeless about knowing how to make a button like that myself. I guess it’ll have to stay until something else comes along. 🙂 —Pam

on my own blog, which is a basic standard blogspot I have PlantZAfrica and the Cape Leopard Trust on my sidebar. We have a widget, add an image, URL to which this image should take you.

I’m sure there is a way for you to do that – or someone ‘mildly’ techie can help you? You say your link is in already, so you would only need to replace the image with one of your usual stellar quality.
