Penick Landscape Design offers design consultations and landscape plans for homeowners who prefer to handle their own installation. Whether you’re an experienced gardener looking for inspiration or a do-it-yourselfer who wants to save money by planting your landscaping over time, I will help you create a beautiful landscape that reflects your personality and enhances your home.

I specialize in using native, drought-tolerant perennials, shrubs, and trees, which can reduce your water bill while giving your yard an attractive, native-Texas look. I also design with more-traditional plants that grow well in Austin.

Together we will assess your property and talk about your ideas, maintenance requirements, and timeline for creating your garden or redesigning your existing landscaping. Consultations generally last about one hour. Afterward, I will provide you with a sketch of your new design and a list of plants, as well as a list of recommended suppliers. My fee for a single consultation and accompanying design for one yard (front, back, or side) generally ranges from $250 to $450, depending on size and scope of the work involved. Larger than average yards may take more time; smaller spaces may take less—consultations are priced accordingly. 50% is due at initial consultation.

Gardening “coaching” is also available for $75/hr. (one-hour minimum). Together we’ll look at your existing landscaping, and I’ll answer your questions about maintenance (when to prune, divide, fertilize, etc.), make design suggestions, and suggest plant choices.

I am available for design or coaching consultations on weekday mornings and on weekends. I look forward to working with you.
